Creatives from throughout the region are invited to bring their “pop-up” art/performance experience to SVS Art Stops, a week of temporary art and fun at two Regional Transit stops in Rancho Cordova.
Call for Participation:
Artists, entertainers, performers, crafters, instructors, and other creatives are sought for a curated series of pop-up “Flash Fun” experiences on August 14-21 at two Sacramento Regional Transit stops.
Join Sacramento Valley Spark (SVS), Regional Transit and the City of Rancho Cordova in inviting our community to safely re-explore outdoor art and interactivity, while also making commuting more fun and inspiring.
We invite your passion and skills to the Mather and Sunrise transit stops in Rancho Cordova any time that week. While art created for the SVS Upcycle Art Challenge is on display at these stops, we’d like to activate the spaces with the vibrancy and energy you might see in New York City or at Burning Man. Sign up for one or more time slots! [link to form]
Some ways to get involved: provide solo or group performances, lead short interactive classes (yoga, improvisation, song and dance, crafts, etc.), have mini-competitions with games, display your art, or set up a theme camp.
Limited reimbursements for hard costs may be available and IRS contribution letters are available however, the experience will be most rewarding if participants think of their installation or performance as a gift to the community.
Please visit the Google application form [link] to let us know you’re interested and get more information. An event lead from SVS will contact you to work out the details of your pARTicipation.
Sacramento Valley Spark is inspired by the 10 principles of Burning Man, and this project seeks to share some of these values with the broader community. Principles in play include Radical Self-Expression (the idea that everyone should be their truest self), Leaving No Trace (we respect and protect the environment), Immediacy (being completely in the moment), and Gifting (sharing without expectation is radically refreshing). Learn more about the 10 principles: here.
